Okay, the Academy Awards are on tonight, and I totally almost forgot. Let’s see whose psychic or a lucky bastard. I’ll give a prize equal to the value of 2.5 paperclips to the person who ends up getting the most of these top 6 (plus 1 rogue) categories correct.
I’d tell you what the prize is, but that would compromise the integrity of the contest, since no one would likely want it, and might botch their picks just to avoid getting it. Here are the categories and the contestants, just throw your picks down in the comments section.

Observations:
I won’t boast. Yes I will, I so nailed it about the Jack thing. The musical numbers tend to be a little grating, but I think Amy Adams did a fantastic job, getting up there all by herself in front of all those famous faces. She did just as good a singing job live as her character in the movie (Si dragged me to Enchanted.) I wish they had used Amy Adams instead of Kristin Chenowith for the ‘That’s How You Know’ number. Chenowith lacked energy, and it was noticeable.
There have been some surprises in the main categories for sure. Jon Stewart is going for understated again, and this seems to work pretty well. A few jokes have fallen a bit flat, but for the most part he’s pitch perfect. Okay, I’m pretty glad the song ‘Falling Slowly’ won, even though ‘That’s How You Know’ was a really fun number in the princess movie. The awards have been pretty evenly distributed, no sweeps this year… but Bourne Ultimatum is cleaning up for the technical crap.
Tilda Swinton has given the best acceptance speech by far. The movie montages are relentless. They come hard and fast and stretch on for sentimental mile upon mile. Three hours and 22 minutes… They kept it under the length of a Harry Potter movie. Not too bad.

Decided to go a just little dark horse here. I still say Paul Dano should have got a supporting actor nomination for There Will Be Blood. Lewis just chewed scenery and acted like he always does.

Okay, I’ll play although I don’t know why. I haven’t seen any of the movies nominated this year but I have seen two of the movies which produced best actor/actress nominees so here’s my guesses:

Haven’t seen enough of the movies. Usually wait to see which win the Oscars first. I did see and adore Viggo Mortensen in Eastern Promises. Can’t imagine a better performance, but what do I know?
Our town ‘theater’ plays “The Dukes of Hazzard” every Tuesday and Thursday night, with a Saturday matinee, so I haven’t seen any of the films. I do, however, admire the way ‘Tilda Swinton’ clears the mouth when uttered, so I’ll root for her, the poor girl probably suffered much abuse as a young girl after being born Matilda. Her parents should be rudely chastized, unless, of course, they’re Australian and met while dancing to ‘Waltzing Matilda’, then I suppose I could possibly forgive them if they were inclined to send me a written apology… and a check.
I’m “and also”?? LOL! I see my partner is “to play.” Makes sense, both of ’em, in some odd sort of way.

Oh, I wish I’d made it here in time to guess. That would have been entertaining, since I’ve seen exactly none of the nominated films or performances (except Johnny Depp).

How did I miss this? Well, I did watch the Oscars though and found them very entertaining. I was surprised at a couple of the wins. But then – I always am. 8)
