I cannot believe it’s been so long since I wrote.
Where did the time go?
If anyone still stops by, and it looks like sometimes a few might, everything’s good in our world. Sierra is 13 now, and going into 7th grade this fall. She is about to get braces, which is a point of much anxiety today, and probably will be till they are in place.
I have been working on refinishing furniture, most recently an antique desk that I’ve been trying to get into shape to paint. I’ve sanded till my hands tremble, but it still needs more work. The colors will be indigo/blue & a creamy tan when it is completed. And it will be my writing desk!
We went to San Diego in June, and saw the sights. Maybe I’ll throw some pictures up here. Mostly the subjects are the aquarium & zoo animals. Rawr!
My brother lives in Kentucky. He has been accepted into the nursing program, the one his girlfriend completed at the beginning of summer. My brother the nurse! I’m very excited for him. Both of us took an awful long time figuring out what to do with our lives. I’m still a little wavery.
My step-father is still hanging in there. He has a terminal illness, amyloidosis, but they seem to have found a way to slow the symptoms. The doctors say he may have as many as five years left to live, if nothing declines. Amyloidosis is a condition where your body starts building up harmful protein deposits on key internal organs.
My grandmother just had a partial cornea replacement, which freaks me out to think about, but the surgery went well & she will hopefully be able to see much better & even read again the way she used to.
I guess that’s it for now. I’ll go see how some old friends are doing.
Do I forgive you for coming to my city without saying a peep? :-)
Lovely to hear from you – funny because I was scrolling through something on my own site and saw yours in my blog roll and thought “What is she up to? Is she OK?” so I am happy to see that life goes on and all is well.
13! Well, my youngest turns 15 next week & the oldest is now 26 – so….time flies!
It has been a long time. I was driven to delete you from my blog roll when WordPress told me you were no longer online. SO glad to see you back
You must post pictures. I’d also like to see the desk when you finish. The colors sound beautiful.
Things are pretty much the same here. My oldest grandchild is 13 and soon to be 14, the age of your Sierra.
I’m now in two writing groups. Two writers I met at the Florida Writers Conference joined with me to create a new group in March. We have attracted super writers and concentrate on critiqueing and submitting. Two of us will have short stories published in FWA Collections 2011. Another is a finalist in RPLA awards with her poetry. The rest of us are waiting for word on the awards results. You stick something out there and then wonder “why did I send that one and not this one?” One guy was brave enough to submit his novel for the competition. It is all great fun and I can’t wait for the conference in October.
Oh, a short story I wrote for a Past Loves anthology will be published in the fall. It is the tale often told me by a dear 80-year-old friend. She always wanted me to write it. Needless to say she is thrilled. I can’t wait to put the book in her hands. :-)
Hope you are still writing. Shouldn’t waste that talent. :-)
Christina, Beda! Hello. It was so nice of you to stop by so soon, I was just sitting here trying to figure out how to update Safari, and I got a notice to come approve a comment on my blog, and there you were.
It’s very nice to hear from both of you. I’ve been getting scolds from all sides about the California trip, Christina, you live in a beautiful place. People were so friendly there.
Beda, I just knew your writing would make an impact in the world. That is so wonderful that you started a writing group, I bet those are very lively, helpful meetings. Congratulations on your writing success!
You have reminded me to take a picture of the desk now, in it’s incomplete state so I can compare the progress. I kept forgetting to do that.
So nice to see you both!
It’s so good to see you back. I’ve missed you. :)
Nothing too much new here. Getting older, just like everyone else. I’m on the last leg of a year-long commitment to get outside every day and blog about it. I’ll be happy to get to the end of that even though it’s been fun and interesting in many ways. I’ll continue the getting outdoors part, but I’ve had enough of the blogging every day.
Happy to see you back, kiddo.
I was about to do what Beda did on the blogroll cuz that notice had been up for awhile. (Congrats Beda on your successes – looks good on you.)
Like Robin said… getting older and a little slower. Today is my g’son’s 4th b’day and his mom, my daughter, turned 30 a couple of months ago. Can’t believe she’s 30! My daughter-in-law is scheduled for a ‘C’ section on the 25th to deliver their 2nd daughter.
I’m no longer working in addictions but am working at a job I don’t care for. Glad to have a paycheck for now though. So many have no work it’s truly frightening.
Recently re-connected with an old friend who is quite a reader so I just sent her a link to my posts tagged ‘Books’, which I’ll include here: you might finds something that twigs your interest.

I’ll look forward to visiting your place here again soon.
Welcome back! I just logged on a few days ago for the first time in over a year. I hope to see more of you.
I was in denial. i would think about deleting bugbear.wordpress off my blogroll and would think, “No! no, no, no. Amuirin will be back with pictures of how Sierra has grown. She’ll do another podcast so I can hear her beautiful voice and we’ll all try to scare the nation into thinking Cowboys and Aliens is real like we did with Cloverfield.” :)
Well, since we’re all catching up. A little more than three years ago was the last time I went on a date. As you know, I married the girl and The Deistette (Emmie) and I have been wed for a little more than two years now. Crazy, huh.
Her son is getting big. Lost a front tooth and is very close to losing the second. He goes into second grade this year. My daughter Little Fawn just turned 17 and will be a senior this year. Amazing.
Renovation to my house has been the biggest thing that preoccupies my time. Doing it myself. Ripping out drywall, siding, windows and plumbing. YouTube is awesome! I had to sell a piece of land that was a place of solace for me and intended to be a place to retire someday. Had to sell to keep the familia afloat as well as fund the house projects to make it healthy for everyone.
That’s mostly what’s up with me. Oh… and we have a little furniture project we’re working on, too. I hope to get pics and show some before and afters as well.
love, love, LOVE you.
hellloooooooooooo…. come back come back wherever you are!
